Asrathi receiving support in kind

Poverty is a great surse on humanity, especially for underpriviledged children. At an age when they have to go to schoo, frolic around in the vast open fields and enjoy their golden period of life, for many underprivileged children their childhood life is one of struggle and a grim battle for survival. They are forced to clean utensils, attend to agricultural work, roll bidis, take care of younger children, work amidst flames and sparks in the welding units, the grease and grine of mechanic shops, pick materials from the filthy garbages etc. to support themselves and their families.

On the aged and elderly, the effect of poverty is also devastating. At an age where they have to rest and recuperate and enjoy the reminiscences of their golden period of life with their grandsons and daughters, the old age life is one of struggles. They are most neglected and are forced to fend for themselves when they need support, love, care and affection of their off-spring. They are therefore forced to work or go begging for alms, while their frail bodies need medical attention.

Sahara was founded to support the poor and needy. Read about our activities and programs.
